Katie and Wendy took our youth group on a field trip to Aldi and gave each kid $15 to use toward buying food for our church food pantry. They learned about food insecurity and how food pantries, just like ours, help fill a gap for many in need.
Before leaving, they learned about what food pantries need and they played a "guess that grocery price" game. If they guessed within .50 cents of the actual price, they got a star. Graham was our winner with the most close guesses.
Without naming names, (HA!) here are some of their guesses...
Jar of peanut butter $8.00
Laundry detergent $32.99
Laundry detergent $4.58
Box of spaghetti noodles $8.98
100 garbage bags $4.00
2# of chicken breast $35.00
Box of diapers (Qty 104) $9.99
Thanks for entrusting us with your kids. We're hoping we're instilling in them a sense of community and how God calls us to be people of action and care --- no matter our ages.
